Right about now, I’m wishing I lived in grey-skied London. Kate Moss’s brand new Autumn/Winter collection that she designs exclusively for Top Shop hits stores tomorrow and it’s a grunge fest worth splurging on. Jersey knit dresses, jewel jackets, printed swing tops with lots of sequinned and metallic touches in the form of body-clinging maxi dresses and sexy strapless mini dresses.

My favourite? I’m in love with this two-tone coco dress!

High brow

My dad’s Italian and my mom’s half so that means that I was blessed with two things: boobs and brows. Boobs – well they’re there to stay. Brows – they need a professional hand and a great pair of tweezers to whack them into shape! Enter, the Benefit Brow Bar. Although brand spanking new in SA, Brow Bars aren’t exactly Benefit’s latest project. Scattered across the US, UK, Asia and Europe Benefit have become known for mapping out brows… Because one size does not fit all!

So after the fabulous little launch that was held (there were pink meringue towers, strawberries and chocolate for dipping and pink cupcakes amongst other yummies) I trotted off to get my brows done this weekend.

It’s the first time I’ve had my brows done by a true pro and I can honestly say, I will never touch my own brows again… I’ve clearly been doing a god awful job up until now!

So next time your cousin/sister/aunt/mother makes her way toward you, tweazer in hand, tell her to stop the bus and head to The Benefit Brow counter instead. Because let’s face it, you wouldn’t get say your facialist to cut your hair now would you?

Do I need to make a booking? Nope!

How much is it? R65 for wax and reshaping.

Where is it? Woolworths (top floor entrance), V&A Waterfront.

I fly out to New York on 12 September so needless to say I’ve been scouring the net for cute stores, hotels, bars and so-hot-right-now restaurants. While surfing nymag.com, I cam across this gorgeous little store.

annie store

Annie's Blue Ribbon General Store: 365 State St., Brooklyn, NY 11217 nr. Bond St.

According to nymag.com, “Shoppers can expect to find pinwheel straws and candles in party supplies; bibs and piggy-bank-making kits in children’s; a shared water bottle for dogs and their owners in pets; slate cheese boards in kitchen; and Dr. Singha’s mustard bath and Cucina lotion in beauty. Books for all ages cover two long tables in the center of the store.”

Do I really need to say it? I love, love, love!

The sweetest suprise

Mount Nelson Hotel has the most scrumptous offering this August!

Pastry Chef Vicky Gurovich and her team are whipping, beating and whisking up calorific mouthfuls of Lindt-inspired chocolatey treats that will see you popping a mini-cake, a handful of truffles and pretty petit fours all in one afternoon tea setting.

Sounds marvellous doesn’t it!? It’s going to set you back R150/person but I can promise you it’ll be worth every recessionista cent.

This special afternoon tea offer is served daily from 2.30pm – 4.30pm until 30 August. Booking is just a click away…. Click!

fashion night outRight now I could cry buckets that I don’t live in some fashion hot city like New York or London or Italy. And to think that I’m missing this event by 3 days! 3 days! (I land in NYC on 13 Sept.)

The international editions of Vogue are partnering up with fashion peeps in all sectors – models, celebs, designers, boutique stores and high-street chains to put the ‘F’ back into fun and fashion. The recession has run away into the night with consumers’ confidence and fashion has taken a horrible knock as the fuel that started the ‘I want. I need. I must have’ fire. Yes fashion can be horribly indulgent, but within reason, it can be awfully fun!

Across 12 cities join in on fashion’s greatest night out as clothes take centre stage in a theatrical tribute to this art form. The VOGUE team will be working with retailers to create a night of original in-store activities, including personal appearances, makeovers and workshops, during extended shopping hours.

PS. If you head to any of these events, snap a couple of pics and please email me! xox

I remember when Lily Allen’s first single, I think it was, Smile, became a worldwide hit. During a radio interview, the DJ said to her, “So Lily, what are you going to now that you’re famous?”. Lily, totally deadpan, said, “Coke.”

Looking at what she’s gotten up to since then, most people just roll their eyes now and go, ‘That’s so Lily Allen for you.’

But the girl is beautiful. She’s got an attitude, but she’s very pretty. Those big dark eyes, that long dark hair… She’s got her own style going on. If she shuts her mouth and doesn’t say a word, she’s a classic beauty really. Quite frankly, I’m surprised a fancy hot shot designer like Karl Lagerfeld hasn’t snapped her up just yet. Oh wait… He has!

Lily is the face for Chanel’s new handbag range, the Coco Cocoon collection. Shot by none other that Mr Karl himself, Lily looks like an old-school Hollywood glamazon.

Oh, and in her spare time she’s designed a jewellery collection. These are my two fave pieces.
